Louisiana Foreclosures Increased In April 2011

Louisiana foreclosures increased in April 2011. The Daily Advertiser posted the news in its Friday, May 13Louisiana Foreclosures Increased In April 2011 edition in their Business Section (Section B) of the newspaper. It reported the rate of foreclosure actions increased 11.8% from March and 23.8% compared to April 2010 placing Louisiana 22nd in the nation.

The data was obtained from Realty-Trac, a California-based firm that monitors and records foreclosure details nationwide. The information on Louisiana foreclosures is available to the public via their web site.



Here's the breakdown for new foreclosures in Acadiana - April 2011:

ACADIA PARISH - 3 foreclosures, 1/8356 housing units

  • Church Point - 2 foreclosures
  • Crowley - 1 foreclosure

EVANGELINE PARISH - 2 foreclosures, 1/7656 housing units

  • Mamou - 1 foreclosure
  • Ville Plette - 1 foreclosure

LAFAYETTE PARISH- 124 foreclosures, 1/735 housing units

  • Lafayette - 76 foreclosures
  • Carenco - 17 foreclosures
  • Youngsville - 12 foreclosures
  • Scott - 10 foreclosures
  • Duson - 5 foreclosures
  • Broussard - 4 foreclosures

IBERIA PARISH- 7 foreclosures, 1/4322 housing units

  • New Iberia - 7 foreclosures

ST. LANDRY PARISH- 22 foreclosures, 1/1790 housing units

  • Opelousas - 12 foreclosures
  • Eunice - 5 foreclosures
  • Arnaudville - 2 foreclosures
  • Washington - 1 foreclosures
  • Sunset - 1 foreclosures
  • Port Barre - 1 foreclosures

ST. MARTIN PARISH - 4 foreclosures, 1/5655 housing units

  • Breaux Bridge - 2 foreclosures
  • St. Martinville - 2 foreclosures

VERMILION PARISH- 18 foreclosures, 1/1378 housing units

  • Abbeville - 8 foreclosures
  • Erath - 4 foreclosures
  • Kaplan - 4 foreclosures
  • Gueydan - 1 foreclosures
  • Maurice - 1 foreclosures

Note: The foreclosure rate (i.e., 1/100) is calculated by dividing the total number of housing units in the respective parish (based on U.S. Census data) by the total number of foreclosure filings (a default notice, foreclosure auction or bank repossession) during the month.
