My New Outside Blog

Size REALLY DOES Matter!

Could you live in a 24 room home? Before answering that question, you should know this "palace" is only 330 square feet! That's right.

Meet Gary Chang, a Honk Kong architect, who transformed his apartment into a super-efficient home using an ingenious system of sliding walls and panels and incorporating Green technology. You'll have to view the video below to witness his amazing "mini-mansion".

Interesting use of space. Not sure I could live in it though...reminds me of my days on the ship in the Navy - except nicer, of course!

Wow.  That is incredible.  I really like the moving walls.

Gary - I agree. While I wouldn't mind ditching some material possessions, and living "less large", 330 square feet is just a wee (pun intended) bit small. I think I'd go stir crazy.

Tricia - I liked the efficiency he created as well: the fold up bed and so on. I think it's the thought of living in 330 sf that would bother me.

-Thanks to you both for sharing your comments and thoughts!

Mike:  Amazing video proving the old saying "Necessity is the Mother of Invention".

Tish - LOL, that is so true. I suppose if one is raised in a sardine can small residence, one becomes accustomed to making due. But gosh... 330 sf is really cramped!

Wow - this is nothing short of genius.  I'm sure more and more city apartments will move in this direction.  I lived in a 775 sq. foot apartment with my daughter once and thought THAT was confining.  Certainly eye-opening.

Thanks for your comment Cara. Most apartments in our market begin in the 600-ish sf range. I can't imagine living in a place half that size.
