Thinking On Thursday - A Dangerous Ordeal

I took my pet raccoon to the vet today. I told him that something seemed wrong with him.Thursday's thoughts He examined my pet and advised me my ‘coon was dead.

"I don't believe you", I replied. "I'd like a second opinion."

My vet thought it over for a moment and then agreed. He left the room  returning shortly thereafter with an orange tabby. He put the cat up on the table next to my raccoon. The cat took a few sniffs of my pet and then suddenly jumped down.

My vet then left the room returning with a black labrador retriever. He likewise, placed the dog on the table allowing it to sniff my ‘coon. After a few minutes the dog jumped down from the table.

My vet turns to me and says, "I'm sorry, but your raccoon is definitely dead. That will be $600."
Thursday's thoughtsI exclaimed, "$600? That's ridiculous! How can you charge me $600?"

My vet replied, "$600 is a bargain. I only charged you $50 for the visit. The other $550 is for the cat scan and lab work."

Thursday's thoughts

Am I the only one who finds such discrepancies alarming?
